This directory contains the SANE distribution.  SANE stands for
Scanner Access Now Easy and defines a standard API to access image
acquisition devices (scanners, digital cameras, etc.).

Contents of this directory and subdirectories:

 sane-backends-1.0.*          Contains the current version of sane-backends 
                              (the drivers, saned, scanimage, documentation)

 sane-backends-*-pre1.tar.gz  Contains a beta snasphot of sane-backends. These
                              snapshots become available some weeks
			      before a new release.

 sane-frontends-1.0.*         Contains the current version of sane-frontends
                              (graphical and console applications)
 
 xsane                        Contains the frontend XSane

 old-versions                 Contains old versions of the SANE distribution

 old-versions/pre-1.0         Contains versions before 1.0 of the SANE distribution

 twain-to-sane-bridge.tar.gz  Bridge between TWAIN for Windows and SANE. See
